Objective(s)

The main objective of this Cornell University project is to improve access to basic veterinary care. Traumatic lacerations to the skin in dogs represent a fairly common reason for seeking veterinary primary or emergency care. There is increasing evidence in human trials that current care standards may be over-treating wounds, and that equivalent and possibly improved outcomes can be achieved with lower cost and timesaving interventions. This study will investigate approaches to dog wound management practices with lower financial and environmental impact than traditional practices. Cornell University will conduct a randomized controlled clinical trial in dogs evaluating the lower cost protocol treatment group against a current standard of care control group.
