Three of the Maddie's® Comprehensive Shelter Medicine Programs are in progress:

Cornell University

Maddie's Fund has provided Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine $3,761,472 in funding to support Maddie's® Comprehensive Shelter Medicine Program, which includes veterinary student training, an internship program, shelter medicine outreach to shelters and rescue organization across the U.S. and shelter medicine research.Maddie's funding is winding down, and the University has shown a great commitment to Shelter Medicine training, with many of the department positions covered by endowments and others being funded through internal grants.

University of Florida

Maddie's Fund has provided University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine $11,220,221 in funding to support Maddie's® Comprehensive Shelter Medicine Program, which includes veterinary student training, an internship program, residency program, continuing education for veterinarians, distance learning, research, and shelter assessments and disease diagnostic, control and prevention services.This program is in the final years of support from Maddie's Fund, and sustainability plans are well underway.

University of Wisconsin-Madison

Maddie's Fund has provided University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Veterinary Medicine with $1,032,824 in funding to support their Shelter Medicine Program, including courses, internships, residencies and diagnostic testing and shelter consultative services.Interns work hand-in-hand with veterinarians at Dane County Humane Society, Residents mentor and train at the University's veterinary clinic and thousands of animals have been saved through the diagnostic testing and shelter consultative services for disease outbreaks of Canine Distemper Virus, Canine Parvovirus, Feline Panleukopenia Virus, Canine Respiratory Disease Complex and Feline Respiratory Disease Complex.
